Salsa Time    tn_Cherry_s_Salsa.jpg

Hey, it's summer and we have several new salsa recipes.  I have tasted several of them. We would love to have yours as well.  Maybe we'll start a whole new category.  I challenge you to add your favorite to our collection.  Two grand new entries are "Cherry Moseley's Awsome Salsa" and "Becky's Wonderful Salsa".  Find others in the Recipe Collection. - Barb

The cookbook is chock full of time tested, taste tested recipes that our families have not only enthusiastically approved, but request often.  We've included cooking tips and hints in the Cookbook as well as the website.  One of our goals is to preserve the art of home cooking so that future generations can enjoy great home cooked meals and the  bonds that are created around the dinner table.

Here are just a few family favorites that Henrietta is crowing about!

           See what's inside.....

Southwest Caviar, Bean Chowder, Husband's Delight, Aurelia's Pecan Pie and many, many more......

While some of our favorite recipes are found only in the Cookbook, we encourage you to browse the Recipe Collection for a couple of new, delicious salads: Spinach Salad (see photos) and Cauliflower Confetti.  We have tried the Cauliflower recipe with cabbage  instead of the cauliflower because of the group to whom it was being served  and it was great that way too.  Some people have told us they don't ordinarily like cauliflower, but liked this recipe.  We are always adding new recipes to our home cooking collection that we have created ourselves, that other good cooks have handed us or that have come in on the Send A Recipe feature.

We have a new category for mixes called Mix It Up  that you can make ahead of time yourself, or you can order the ready made packets from us in the Store.  Click here: Mix It Up  to check out the Spaghetti Sauce Mix and Dill Bread Mix.

Order The Higgins Sisters Reports (see below) from the Store for ideas on weight management and learn about The Wild, Wacky World of Sweeteners.  Sweeteners are taken for granted in our modern world of cooking, but they haven't always been so easy to come by.  The history of sugar and the newer artificial sweeteners is truly fascinating and may change some of your ideas about what you want to include in your recipes.  You will also find CDs of our recent teleseminars for sale.

Chicken  Nuggets   (little bits of advice)

Save time and money at your next cook out. Buy the economy size meat and make up the whole package into patties. Make a patty. Set a butter tub lid on top of it. Continue to alternate  patties and lids. Place stacked patties inside a bread bag, seal with a twist tie and put in the freezer. You can take out as many patties as you need.

!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hot off the Presses...... Reusable bags !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It was a long grueling photo shoot for Henrietta but when she saw herself on these bags she was sooooo proud.  Use them for groceries, shopping, carry-ons, boating, or just for fun.  See them in the Store

Henrietta has been really busy writing all these reports too, and she wants you to learn about weight management, keeping fit and trim and about what's really in those little pink and blue packets. (Store)

And a CD of our first teleseminar:   Cooking Light but Lovely     tossed_salad.JPG

We had a great time on our second teleseminar in April.  We answered several questions sent in by our participants.  We shared some of our favorite recipes and a couple of menus and had a wonderful discussion with chef Fusco.  He was delightful, entertaining and informative.  A CD recording of the live teleseminar will soon be available for download.  And remember you can always Ask The Higgins Sisters.
